Dr. Mukesh Kumar is also a well-known author with 11 books to his credit. He has been writing regular columns for prestigious magazines like Hans, Naya Gyanodaya, Pakhi, Deshbandhu, Lokmat Samachar, and Duniya In Dino. His poetry collection Sadho Jag Baurana was well appreciated in literary circles as well as among the readers.
He started his TV career as Editorial Chief for a weekly magazine called Parakh, produced by well-known anchor Mr. Vinod Dua.

Dr. Mukesh has also hosted many popular TV shows such as Rajneeti-Khel Satta Ka, Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Baat Bolegi, Kahi-Ankahi, Sammukh, and Aapki Baithak on various TV channels.
He was also one of the hosts of a very popular breakfast show called Subah Savere on the Doordarshan.
He has produced/ directed several documentaries and a Telefilm called KANTHA and wrote a short film Mr. Ulta Pulta.
Before venturing into TV journalism, he worked for several newspapers. He was the Founder-Editor of Hindi daily Sentinel published from Guwahati, the Executive Editor of the fortnightly magazine Samay Sutradhar and the Assistant Editor, Dainik Naiduniya.
He was associated with Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and
Communication as Adjunct Professor and worked for SGT University as Professor & Dean.
